Walking over Sand Hills - Linda Syddick Napaltjarri At the age of eight years, in 1945, Linda walked out of the desert with her family, East to Haasts Bluff Lutheran mission, to the East of Pintubi country. They have been encouraged to do this by the 'king' of the Pintubi people Nosepeg Tjupurrula, and Linda’s step father Shorty Lungkarta (blue tongue lizard). Both these men had knowledge of the 'white-fella' world. The first obstacle they encountered were the high sand hills, which run in a north-south direction and are covered in grass, bushes and trees.
