Myra was born in Oodnadatta into a large family of four sisters and six brothers including fellow artist Peter Taylor. The family moved to the Northern Territory Horseshoe Bend in 1940 then to Adelaide in 1945 where Myra went to school. It was here that Myra was married and her son was born before moving to Alice Springs.
Having always enjoyed drawing at school Myra started her artistic career about 20 years ago when she learnt the technique of batik and created dot style designs while working with the women’s craft centre at Pertame, Southern Aranda. At present Myra is concentrating on dot style paintings on canvas but she has also mastered lino cut printing, silk screen printing and pottery.
