Douglas Kwarlpe Abbott, deceased in 2015, was raised in Alice Springs by his parents Gordon and Joyleen Abbott. As a young boy Douglas watched Albert Namatjira, Clem Abbott and the original Hermannsburg watercolour artists as they painted and learned from them how to paint. Clem Abbott advised Douglas to find his own style and try to develop it which he has done with great success. After learning how to paint and developing his own style he has been painting for many years.
Douglas’ paintings are exhibited in many prominent galleries around Australia e.g. the Art Gallery of South Australia and the National Gallery of Victoria.
